The hotel has its own restaurant, bar, café, lounge area with a good selection of cocktails, pool and gym. However, the major draw is probably the pool and lounge area at the top of the hotel, from which you have the most beautiful view of Table Mountain.

If you’re looking for something really special, you should upgrade to One & Only Cape Town. It is without doubt one of the city’s very best hotels, and perhaps resort would be a better name for the One & Only. Occasionally, you’ll find yourself wondering whether you are actually still in the middle of South Africa’s bustling metropolis Cape Town, or whether you’ve been transported to some luxurious tropical resort.
The resort is a stone’s throw from Cape Town’s popular Waterfront, where you will find everything from restaurants and bars to shops and a variety of activities – that’s if you feel like leaving your resort at all.
The spa and pool are located on their own island in the harbour and are all but surrounded by a tropical garden – in the heart of the city. In the lounge, you can enjoy a cocktail overlooking Table Mountain while waiting for your table at Africa’s only Nobu restaurant – it’s popular, so be sure to make a reservation well in advance.
If you have your children or teenagers with you, there are plenty of activities for them. Younger children become members of the resort’s “kids club”, while older children can go on excursions and try out climbing walls, bowling or skating rinks.
The rooms at the hotel are some of the largest in the city and all of them have their own balcony, Nespresso machine, flat screen TV, bathtub and views of the vibrant harbour.
Marina Harbour Room | Per person: £1565 |
The 4-star Victoria & Alfred Hotel at the heart of Cape Town’s famous Waterfront is one of the most legendary hotels in the city.
Housed in a converted warehouse from 1904, the hotel is named after Queen Victoria and her son, Alfred, who played a crucial role in the entire construction of Cape Town’s harbour environment and the Waterfront area.
The 94 rooms are spread over 3 floors and overlook the harbour, Table Mountain or the square in front of the hotel. Common to all of them, of course, is the fact that the Waterfront with all its shops, restaurants, bars, etc. is right on the doorstep. You couldn’t ask for a better location.
The rooms are all modernly appointed with a flat screen TV, a minibar, tea and coffee making facilities, air conditioning, ironing facilities, bathrobes, etc. – everything you would expect of a nice 4* hotel.
The hotel itself has two restaurants as well as access to a pool, spa and gym.
