The tour in short

This trip is a wonderful mix of beach holiday and safari. You will start in Mombasa, with time to relax on the white sandy beaches before heading off on your safari adventure. After two nights in Mombasa, you will be taken to the world-famous Masai Mara National Park with its distinctive acacia trees that provide shade and shelter for the animals of the savannah. You will have every opportunity to enjoy a first-hand view of ‘The Big 5’, giraffes, leopards and all kinds of other animals. For example, in the period July–October, you are sure to encounter millions of gnus making their annual 1,200 km migration to find water and fresh pasture. You will also have the chance to enjoy the fantastic experience of watching the animals awaken during an early morning game drive, and to sit around a camp fire in the evening, admiring the immense starry sky and listening to all the sounds of the savannah.

After your safari adventure, you will catch a flight back to Mombasa, where you will be spending another six nights. Here, you can lie back under the swaying palm trees and think about all your recent experiences, or go exploring in the city of Mombasa, strolling through the narrow streets and alleys, breathing in the scents of spices, and learning about the local culture and history.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Flight to Kenya

Departure day, where you will fly to Kenya with connecting flights along the way.

Days 2-3: Stay in Mombasa
Day 4: Mombasa to Masai Mara

Early transfer from the hotel to Moi Airport, where we head for the Masai Mara Game Reserve. From the air we can see Kilimanjaro towering over the stunning landscape.

A flight of approximately 2 ½ hours, before landing and being transferred to the lodge.

Lunch will be served for you at the lodge and in the afternoon your first game drive in the Masai Mara. The Mara reserve has the highest concentration of wildlife in the world. All the large animals are to be found here, giving every opportunity to see elephant, lion and giraffe.

Day 5: Masai Mara

The next day we experience our first drive game drive looking for wildlife in both the morning and afternoon. Maybe we will bring along breakfast and a picnic lunch to ensure we have maximum time to enjoy the great views.

Masai Mara is one of Kenya’s most precious wildlife sanctuaries. This area has one of Africa’s greatest concentrations of wild animals. The African wildlife can be found here in staggering numbers, which in turn increases the count of predator population.

Day 6: Masai Mara

Another exciting day awaits us. We take a full day game drive in Masai Mara National Park, the Kenyan part of the vast Serengeti ecosystem and in the rain season, home to arguably the greatest concentration of wildlife.

Covering the fabulous plains we encounter large herds of elephant, wildebeest, zebra, hippo, giraffe, gazelle and other prey to the hunting lion, hyena, leopard and cheetah.

From July to October you can experience the 1,200-kilometer journey by over a million wildebeest, the Thompson gazelle and few hundred thousand zebra, in search of fresh water and grass. It is during this journey that some of the animals fall victim to the enormous Nile crocodile when crossing the Mara River.

Day 7: Masai Mara – Mombasa

Today we head out for an early morning game drive where we experience nature waking up to a new day. Here we enjoy our last safari experiences in the early afternoon, before being driven to the airfield, where we head back to Mombasa. The flight takes approximately 2 ½ hours.

In Mombasa there are new adventures awaiting, with white sandy beaches, green palm trees, azure seas, coral reefs, fascinating history and a lively port city.

Days 8-12: Relaxation and experience Mombasa
Day 13: Start of the trip home

The time has now come to leave Kenya and head for home. You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the airport to catch your flight to the UK, which will include connecting flights along the way.

Day 14: Arrival in the UK

Arrive back in the UK after a magnificent holiday packed with wonderful experiences.
