Deluxe ocean view room, half board Per person:  £244

All the way out at the beach in north-western Mauritius is the hotel Le Meridien Ile Maurice.

The hotel is particularly good for both families with children and couples travelling without children. Families can enjoy many activities for children and the young at heart, while couples without children can treat themselves to the Nirvana wing, which is reserved for adults only. Here there is a pool with a pool bar, and all Nirvana guests get a bottle of wine on arrival, a fruit basket in their rooms, as well as a sunset cocktail. Families with children will appreciate the fact that children under the age of 11 can stay in the same room as their parents for free.

There are 265 rooms here, all of which have a view of either the sea or the vast tropical garden that surrounds the hotel. All rooms feature a balcony or porch. There is also air conditioning, a TV and a mini-bar.

The hotel features 4 restaurants. The small town of Grand Baie is a short, 20-minute drive from here, so you have great opportunities to explore local life and cuisine, if you like.

A stone’s throw from the hotel is the chalk-white beach, but if you’d rather hop in the pool, there are three of these. Furthermore, the hotel also features a spa, kids-club, water sports activities, diving centre and a well-equipped fitness centre.

Please note: Hotel Le Meridien is closed for refurbishment until 1 May 2020.
