It’s possible to purchase a wide range of excursions, depending on what you and your family fancy doing, be it visiting Robben Island, going whale watching – or perhaps you’re active types who want to hike to the top of Table Mountain itself?

The tour rounds off in style in Mauritius. You can spend the days as you choose, but here, too, you have the option of a host of excursions if you’re not yet done with experiences.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Departure from the UK

Today you depart by plane from the UK to Johannesburg with connecting flight(s) along the way.

Day 2: Arrival and transfer to Bongani Mountain Lodge

On your arrival in Johannesburg, you will be met at the airport and driven to the lodge where you will be staying for the next three nights.

The afternoon is yours to relax after the long flight. Jump in the pool, or sit on the lodge’s terrace overlooking the rugged scenery around you, and enjoy a cold drink while looking out for the first wild animals.

Accommodation:
Day 3: Safari in Kruger National Park

A typical day at Bongani Mountain Lodge begins before the sun rises. You will leave the lodge early in the morning and you will not be back until late in the day. What the day has in store for you is impossible to say – and that’s what makes safari so fascinating! The feeling of being there where the animals live is absolutely overwhelming. Impalas, buffaloes, giraffes and elephants emerge from the bush and disappear again. There are storks, eagles and vultures, crocodiles, hippos – and lions. There is no guarantee of seeing the Big 5, but the chances are really high. You might like to bring a pair of binoculars with you from home, so you can help keep an eye out. In the middle of the day, there is a lunch break at one of the many camp sites found in the park. There is a small café here where you can buy food and drinks and maybe a snack or two.

At the end of the day, you will return to the lodge and enjoy a good dinner.

Accommodation:
Day 4: Safari at Mthethomusha Game Reserve

Today is all about safari again – this time in the game reserve you are in.

You leave the lodge before sunrise. Remember to wrap up warm! It’s cold in Africa at night before the sun rises. It’s a very special feeling, sitting safely in the comfort of the car, knowing that there are lions around you on their way home from the night’s hunt, and that elephants are on their way to the watering hole for a morning dip. The sun soon rises, and you can see the first outlines of the wild animals. What you will see, nobody knows. This is precisely why a game drive gives even the most seasoned safari guests butterflies in their stomach!

When the sun is so hot that the animals become lazy, it’s time to head back to the lodge, where a lavish brunch and good chat about the morning’s experiences await. Do as the animals do and take a nap or enjoy refreshing swim in the pool.

The rest of the day is yours to do as you please. The view from the lodge is amazing, so you might just want to relax and enjoy it. It’s also possible to have a massage after all those hours in the safari car.

Accommodation:
Day 5: Bongani Mountain Lodge – Cape Town

Today it’s time to say goodbye to “the bush” and the animals. Ahead of you awaits South Africa’s most beautiful metropolis, so you’ve really got something to look forward to! You will be driven to the airport and fly to Cape Town. You will be met by our local partner and driven to your hotel, where you’ll be staying for the next four nights.

Days 6-8: Experiences in Cape Town

The days In Cape Town are at your disposal.

If you would like to experience some of the most popular places and sights such as the prison island, Robben Island, a hike to the top of Table Mountain, a visit to a township or whale watching, we strongly urge you to purchase these excursions from home. There are often a limited number of places, especially on the most popular excursions.

Even without excursions, however, there is plenty to do in Cape Town. The museums, sights, restaurants, shops, buildings and markets are enough for a whole holiday in themselves. Enjoy!

Day 9: Cape Town – Mauritius

We’ll bet that you’re not quite done exploring Cape Town when the driver picks you up to drive you to the airport. But in reality, this is the best goodbye you can take with you from this fascinating city. And ahead of you lies a luxurious beach adventure with blue sea and white sand. You fly from Cape Town (with connecting flight(s)) to Mauritius. You are driven to the hotel, where you will spend the next five nights.

Days 10-13: Relaxation and experiences in Mauritius

The days in Mauritius are yours to do as you please. The hotel can help with excursions if you wish – or you can spend the days on the beach or by the pool.

Day 14: Mauritius – Departure day

The time has come to say goodbye to the beach life. You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the airport, from which you will fly to the UK, with connecting flight(s) along the way.

Day 15: Arrival back home

You land in the UK after a lovely, eventful holiday.
