Tanzania – For newly-weds wishing to experience safaris & paradise islands

Uganda – For newly-weds looking to enjoy rare animal experiences

If you’ve always dreamed of coming face to face with the unique gorillas, Uganda is the perfect destination for your honeymoon.

Uganda is one of the world’s best places to experience the fascinating mountain gorillas, as around half of the world’s wild gorillas live here – among other places in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, which you will visit.

You experience the nature at close quarters in your quest to see the unique apes, as you make your way through areas of creepers and undergrowth. Gorillas can be curious creatures, so you may get to enjoy a close encounter with the gentle giants. Sitting and studying these incredible animals is an extraordinary experience you’ll never forget.

In addition to the unique gorillas, you may also see man’s closest living relative in the animal world: the chimpanzee. It’s fascinating to witness these human-like creatures going about their daily business and to see how they live in the Kyambura Gorge area. The clever monkeys are shy, but your guide knows the area and is highly experienced at tracking the chimpanzees.

When it comes to safari, Uganda also offers adventurous experiences. Discover, for example, diverse wildlife in Queen Elizabeth National Park, where more than 650 bird species and 95 species of mammal live, including lions, leopards, antelopes, elephants and buffaloes.

The national park also has very diverse scenery with savannah, swamp and forest. Make a stop at the equator and immortalise the experience with a photo of the two of you standing, one in each hemisphere.

Kenya – For newly-weds who want to experience classic safari

Kenya is one of the classic safari countries where you will find a wealth of excellent national parks, reserves and areas of natural beauty just waiting to give you an unforgettable honeymoon.

In Amboseli National Park, you can experience an array of fascinating safari animals, but what make the national park so special is its huge herds of elephants.  The vegetation in the park is sparse, making it easier to find the animals. When you wake up in your lodge in Amboseli, you wake up to a fabulous panoramic view of the majestic Kilimanjaro and the stunning savannah.

You can also visit the breathtaking Great Rift Valley, which stretches 5,000 km through eastern Africa. Lake Naivasha is located at the highest point of the gorge and is, among other things, known for its vervet monkeys, abundance of birds, hippos and giraffes.

For many people, the highlight of Kenya is almost certainly Masai Mara. The game reserve has a huge concentration of wildlife, including leopards, elephants, gazelles, lions and cheetahs. The beautiful plain with its characteristic acacia trees forms the setting for exquisite safari experiences.

And although the animal experiences are perhaps the highlight, a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum and a couple of days’ R&R are not to be sniffed at either.

In Nairobi, you can explore the world-famous Danish writer Karen Blixen’s former administration building, which today houses the Karen Coffee Garden café. The café is surrounded by a cosy, romantic garden where you can walk hand in hand and feel the presence of history.
