Zuri Zanzibar

On the scenic west coast of Zanzibar, overlooking the azure blue waters of the Indian Ocean, is where you’ll find the 5-star Zuri Zanzibar.

“Zuri” means “beautiful” in Swahili, and you will not be disappointed when you arrive at the hotel.

It’s almost as if Zuri Zanzibar has been built in its own little micro-universe. The 55 bungalows, suites and villas lie scattered in a large tropical garden, overlooking the sea. The hotel has its own spice garden, where you can become acquainted with some of the many spices that Zanzibar is so famous for.

Inspiration for the décor of all the bungalows is drawn from contemporary African architecture, focusing on sustainability. The accommodation offers everything you could wish for: your own large, well-furnished terrace, indoor and outdoor shower, tea and coffee making facilities, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, flat screen TV, etc., not to mention an incredibly chilled and welcoming atmosphere.

The beach is perfect. The sand is white, the water is turquoise blue, and due to the shape of the seabed, the beach here is much less affected by the tide than is the case elsewhere on the island.

The hotel has 3 restaurants and 3 bars but you are, of course, welcome to eat on your own terrace if you prefer.

Enjoy a trip to the day spa or take part in a yoga class. Swim a few lengths of the 32-metre infinity pool, which overlooks the ocean. Cooking classes are offered in the spice garden – or you can grab a book and enjoy a quiet moment in one of the many cosy corners of the garden. If you’ve forgotten to bring a book with you, you can borrow one from the hotel’s library – if, that is, you don’t want to make use of the water sports centre, where you can rent snorkelling and diving equipment as well as book various sailing trips.
